japanese photographer taisuke koyama visited the artist kohei nawa, well known for his glass bead sculptures, to photograph various surfaces and objects around his workspace known as the ‘sandwich studio’ – hence the title of the project ‘sandwich textures’. the images depict miscellaneous textures permeating the artist’s space – with the dominant focus on material and liquid – producing fractal-like patterning that strongly references nawa’s sculptures themselves. the artistic collaboration generated 24 images and later turned into a book as part of the ‘lumen’ series from artbeat publishers.
